about

Throughout quarantine I have wanted to be sure that I spent more time doing things I'd wished I had more time for prior to the pandemic. Considering the circumstances, the areas I've done the best in are creativity and reading.
No matter how horrible and unpredictable all of this continues to be, I still want to find a way to make something good out of it. So far reading and making music have had the greatest benefit to my mental health while serving as anchors in unstable times.
Hence the idea of "Qualitative Stasis." One year in and who knows how much further to go, I want to take advantage of this excess of downtime, at least as much as energy and sanity will allow. Therefore, being more concerned with how the time is filled rather than how much time is considered to be emptier.
I have tried to branch out with the sound a little more, but all too often the more diverse attempts don't make the final cut. The easy explanation is that they're just not there yet, but all of this extra recording time means I'll get burnt out on too similar sounds that much earlier and begin to branch out that much sooner...I hope...I even started experimenting with occasional song structure again.
